This novel is considered to be one of the great Chinese classic novels. It depicts the heroic struggle of 108 men & women against a corrupt & repressive government in 12th century China. The tale is in fact based upon true events that had occurred previously but a great deal of popular legend is blended within this historical framework.
For those interested in Chinese Culture including Wu Su, "Kung Fu", Outlaws of the Marsh is especially entertaining as all the greatest heroes & villains that dominate within the book have strong Martial Skills. Many of the Outlaws are experts or teachers of the Martial Arts & their character undoubtedly represent what the Classical Chinese expected from such warriors.
