The Chain Link Whip evolved during the feudal era & was originally called the 10,000 power chain due to its versatility being compared to the ingenuity of 10,000 people.
The weapon is typically used to hobble, choke, & immobilize an opponent, or to hook into his clothing or body. It also served to parry & deflect other weapons such as swords by stretching the chain taut before an oncoming blade.
This weapon was especially popular with the palace guard as it was sacrilege to spill blood on palace grounds. By using the chain, the palace guard could strike, strangle, entrap, etc. the opponent with little or no bloodshed. The palace guard is long gone but the Chain Link Whip is still here.
The Wu Su Chain Link Whip is 52" long & contains 9 3" stiff segments chained together, 1 pointed 3" segment at the end & 1 four inch segment at the front. Our photograph shows close ups of the Whip advertised, its bigger brother the Combat Chain Link Whip and it's smaller brother the Light Wu Su Chain Link Whip, the details of which are in their own auctions. The Combat Chain Link Whip is longer & more than twice as heavy while the Light Wu Su Chaink Link Whip is about 40% lighter than the medium weight chain link whip.
