The use of the Axe as a weapon in Chinese History dates back thousands of years. The Legendary folk hero who dared to stand against the Song Dynasty's Tyranny, Li Kui, was reputed to have used double axes as his trademark weapons as told in Outlaws of the Marsh.

Li Kwai the Black Whirlwind.

His hair in disarray, he would strip before combat to increase his fierce visage, although the way he annihilated all who dared stand in his path was better reason yet to fear him.

By the end of the battle Li Kwai would be covered in blood and dirt. His first order of business having dispatched his foes was to cleanse himself with a relaxing bath.

Obviously these devastating weapons were not for the weak or feint of heart but were rather preferred by warriors with extraordinary physical strength, stamina and ferociocity.

Today, the modern Martial Artist or admirer may own their own pair of axes for forms practice or decoration. This pair of axes is excellent for both and the would be practitioner will gain tremendous arm strength from practicing with these. While the weapons are meant for Kung Fu practice, I would imagine that many Kali or Escrima practitioners might also be interested in swinging these weapons as a change of pace from their usual sticks.

Each axe has wooden handles with iron heads. The total length of each axe is 27 1/4" with axe heads of 10" x 9 3/4". The axes have a good deal of weight but are practice ready and not sharp. Please note that measurements are approximate.
