The Ba Gua Dao or Ba Gua Saber is in fact a Da Kan Dao or Large Chopping Saber & became popular during the Song Dynasty (960-1280 AD). Later it procured additional fame as a Primary Weapon of Ba Gua practioners. It bears similar function to its distant Japanese Cousin the No-Dachi.
This saber boasts a total of 53" with a 42" blade. The blade tapers from just under 2" down to just under 1". It is made from flexible Wu Su Spring Steel but is fairly thick and stiff at the base as is necessary for a sword of its size. This Sword remains unsharpened and was meant for Kung Fu practice or decoration. |
